What is Leaky Gut Syndrome?

With so many different health issues to cypher through, you might be wondering what is leaky gut syndrome and how do you know if you have it. To put it simply, leaky gut syndrome is "hyperpermeable intestines" which means that the lining of your intestine is porous and allows substances to leak through. This causes harm because of the toxic substances entering your body that are normally protected by the intestinal lining, such as: yeast, toxins, bacteria, and waste.

What Causes Leaky Gut Syndrome?

Generally, leaky gut syndrome is caused by your diet. Eating foods with high amounts of refined sugar, refined flour, processed foods, and preservatives are all causes of leaky gut. In addition, stress and medication may also lead to leaky gut.

How does Leaky Gut Syndrome Affect You?

When your intestinal lining allows toxins to flow into the blood stream, it causes many other health issues. This can affect you by causing food sensitivity, headaches, bloating, cramps, fatigue, rashes, joint pain, and more. Common symptoms of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) are often confused with leaky gut, but in reality, many people have both syndromes simultaneously.
